Colon cancer is one of the most common cancers.
In general, the mortality rate increases significantly after age 50. If within a family the risk is increased, colon cancer can also happen at an earlier age. Almost always, colon cancer develops from precursor stages (polyps) that can be detected and removed long before they develop into cancer. With this, a preventive colonoscopy not only contributes to the early detection of colon cancer, but even prevents the development of cancer. For certain diseases, check-up should be carried out sooner. Other risk factors for an increased colon cancer risk are the consumption of tobacco and alcohol, obesity and the lack of exercise as well as a low-fiber diet and diabetes mellitus. We are happy to consult you regarding your personal risk profile and plan your preventive colonoscopy.
