Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy (ileocolonoscopy)

Colonoscopy is a safe and painless method of visualising the inside of the large intestine, which is the method of choice for the guideline-based diagnosis of numerous bowel diseases. In addition, the immediate treatment of recognised diseases, such as the removal of mucosal growths, is possible during the examination. The latest technology is used at the Zentrum / Interne Medizin / Fünf Höfe.

Background

Preparation for colonoscopy:

A good bowel cleansing is an essential prerequisite for optimal assessment of the bowel during the examination! Insufficient cleansing of the colon leads to longer examination times, increases the complication rate, the examination may not be conclusive and in the worst case may have to be repeated.

Instructions and tips for preparation:
Avoid foods containing grains (wholemeal products, muesli, linseed, fruit such as kiwi, strawberries or grapes) and vegetables with hard skins (e.g. tomatoes, peppers) for 5 days before the test.

The day before the examination:
Please drink the second litre of Moviprep® in the morning, approx. 3 hours before the journey to the examination. After the litre of cleansing solution, drink another half litre of clear liquid of your choice until your “bowel movement” is camilla tea-coloured and free of solids.
You may drink water up to 2 hours before the examination. If excretion does not take place as a camilla-coloured liquid without solids as described above, please contact our practice! Tel.: 089/443889200

We wish you successful colonoscopy preparation
