Prof. Dr. med. Albrecht Pfeiffer

Internist, gastroenterologist, palliative physician

The renowned physician practised for more than ten years as a senior physician and for over two decades as head physician at a large clinic for internal medicine specialising in gastroenterology/hepatology, diabetology, haemato-oncology and palliative medicine.

After extensive scientific training in the field of digestive physiology, he trained as an internist and gastroenterologist. The extensive clinical work based on the entire spectrum of internal medicine led to personal specialisations in the areas of diagnostic and, in particular, surgical endoscopy, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, hepatology, functional digestive disorders and oncology of the digestive organs with early palliative medical support. The medical care of his patients was accompanied by the realisation of clinical studies in awareness of evidence-based medicine, the publication of which attracted international attention in highly respected specialist journals.

In the context of evidence-based medicine and many years of clinical experience, his aim is to provide each patient with the best possible individualised treatment.

Clinical and scientific specialisations

Experimental research into digestive physiology, in particular the absorption of food and drugs and the regulation of pancreatic enzyme secretion. Clinical research on the motility of the digestive tract under the influence of nutrition and medication and in various diseases. Clinical studies on food tolerance in chronic inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopic surgical procedures on the intestine and pancreas.
